Eating for 2 in pregnancy is a myth!

ust about to help yourself to an extra slice of cake, an extra large portion of fries? Don’t do it! Yes, you may be eating for two, but that doesn’t mean you should be eating double the adult portions or eating unhealthy foods. The average pregnant woman only needs an extra 300 calories a day and that’s only from week 18. Think about what those extra calories should come from - your baby needs lots of nutrients, so make sure you’re eating the right things to give them the best start in life.

A woman of normal weight should only gain about 25-35 pounds. A lot of this is the weight of fluid, enlarged breasts and the uterus, which you will lose once the baby is born, but some of those extra pounds may hang around. You ladies are of course, all on the right path with exercising throughout your pregnancy. Keeping active will help you maintain a healthy weight and will definitely speed up the weight loss post pregnancy.
