Getting on the Nutribullet train

So, I bought myself a Nutribullet in the pre-xmas sales - this is how I roll these days! I have to say it's amazing. I'm sure there are other great brands out there but this is compact, easy to clean and very powerful - you can chuck in stalks, leaves and skin and it will extract the goodness from them. There are 3 stages to go through before you become a hardcore green juice drinker. You start on the mild tasting spinach mixed with the overpowering flavours of banana, pineapple etc and then move on to the more bitter tasting kale and less fruit/ less sugar.

The benefits of green juices, particularly ones made with the Nutribullet which doesn't discard anything are (be wary of shop bought ones and the amount of sugar in them):

  • Fast delivery of nutrients to the blood stream

  • Keeps the fibre in tact which slows the release of sugars into the blood stream and keeps you fuller for longer

  • Less sugar than a smoothie or regular fruit juice

  • Good way of getting your 5 a day and having so many nutrients in one glass (kale for example is packed with beta-carotene, calcium, vitamin C and vitamin K too)

Today's juice was Kale, apple and mint - surprisingly tasty and refreshing. I'm definitely a convert - a green juice is a great way to start the day!
